Maria Bringer Smith
Senior Level
In a fundraising world where consultants tell us that today’s donors want to know exactly where their money is going, visiting with donors about the importance of unrestricted giving (gifts of faith) is more crucial than ever. How can you fully engage your major and planned giving colleagues in your annual fund efforts? Are there ways you can help your fellow fundraisers tell your annual fund story when they visit donors? This session will focus on the key challenges we face when working with colleagues to raise unrestricted gifts for the Annual Fund. Participants will learn strategies for building a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes all giving – restricted AND unrestricted.

During the session, Cannon will guide the audience toward the smoothest possible options. In addition, the session will conclude with practical tips and tricks to apply these principles back at the office, after the conference and for years to come.

Jim Yagow
Fundamental/Core
Let’s face it. Grant proposal writing can be one tough game. Do you long for guidance, maybe a little encouragement or at least some constructive criticism? What separates the gems from the rest of the pile of grant proposals sitting on a funder’s desk? What are the definite turn-offs and pet peeves of grant proposal reviewers?

This session is divided into three parts: 1. Researching private funders; 2. Grant proposal writing; 3. Grantmaking insights.

You’ll learn the top tips and the inner secrets of a successful grant proposal. If you implement the top three or four pieces of advice presented during this session, then you’ll enjoy a huge advantage over the vast majority of grant seekers.

Don Carmichael - Champion Events Group

Resource Session

Learn fundraising insights and secrets developed from over 2,000 major funding events conducted throughout the U.S. and Canada over the past 20 years.  In this session, you will learn ways to energize and mobilize your supporters as participants in major funding events (golf, walks, carnivals, community outreach).  We'll show you how to convert them into individual "fundraisers" and tap into their personal networks.  All events use online peer-to-peer fundraising tools to generate immediate donations (300-500 first-time donors) and set historical fundraising records for host organizations.  Don't miss this valuable opportunity to learn progressive tactics and best practices to reach new heights in your fundraising.

A number of exhibitors and sponsors will be presenting Resource Sessions about a variety of topics during regular curriculum time slots.  We haven’t cut the number of curriculum offerings per session, but have simply added to what is available.  Please note that exhibitor sessions are sponsored sessions, so the presenters may address how their products/services can help address the topic at hand.  These sessions are not recorded.  The presentations will take place in regular meeting rooms.
