Chapter Conference Scholarship

Please note that the Chapter Scholarships are different than Thrivent Scholarships, and recipients are not required to be new to development.  However, only one scholarship is awarded per ALDE chapter.

Year One:
Covers $300 of 2012 conference registration fee

$175 application fee required.
(applies to one year ALDE membership)

Year Two:
Covers $150 of 2012 conference registration fee

$175 application fee required.
(applies to one year ALDE membership)

Applications accepted until all scholarships are awarded.

ALDE scholarships are funded by two generous sources:  a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and contributions by ALDE members to ALDE’s Annual Fund.

Purpose of the Thrivent program: To provide training to those newest to the development* profession. These scholarships are funded by a Thrivent Grant.

Purpose of the ALDE program: To provide assistance to one person per chapter who otherwise may not be able to attend the conference.

Year one scholarship

This scholarship covers $300 of the 2012 conference registration fee. This $300 cannot be applied toward ALDE membership. ALDE member dues must be paid to be eligible for this scholarship.

First year criteria:

• Cannot have received any conference scholarship in the past
• Must be a full ALDE member (not a volunteer member).  Members who joined at the $99 rate are not eligible for conference scholarships unless they pay the $76 difference for the regular membership rate. 
• Must be employed in development* for a nonprofit organization
• Should be relatively new to development* (priority given to those with one to four years experience)
• Except in rare cases, only one scholarship will be given per organization
• Need may also be considered

Year two scholarship

This scholarship covers $150 of the 2012 conference registration fee and cannot be applied toward ALDE membership. It is only available to those who received a scholarship in the recent past and are current full members. If your membership is due for renewal before June 2012, you must renew your ALDE membership to be eligible for this scholarship.

Second year criteria:

• Must have received a first year scholarship

* Development is definded as any of the following: fundraising, communications/public relations, marketing, gift planning, etc.

Please apply for the scholarship before registering for the 2012 conference. Once you are notified of your scholarship award, you may register online for the annual conference. At that time a credit will be applied to your account for the amount of your scholarship and you will not have to pay the full registration price.
