Keynote Address -
Public/Private Partnerships
Monday, February 23 ~ 10:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Hard to live with them, hard to live without them! In his address, David Williams will share the good, the bad, and the ugly of his experiences of partnering with state and federal governments while leading the Houston Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity International and most recently as president and chief executive of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America.
Before joining the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Williams spent 10 years at Habitat for Humanity International, rising to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Under his leadership, the organization expanded in a number of areas – revenue, house building and the number of countries with operations.
In July 2006, Williams was appointed to the Helping to Enhance the Livelihood of People (HELP) Around the Globe Commission by President Bush. The 21-member federal commission studied U.S. foreign assistance programs and recommended ways to make them more effective. He is currently a member of the board of directors of America’s Charities and is an elder at Northridge Community Church.
David Williams leads the national staff and 66 chapters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in its simple, heartfelt mission: granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since 1980, the world’s largest wish-granting organization has granted the wishes of more than 155,000 children in the United States, Guam and Puerto Rico. |
