| How many years have you been a development professional? |
I began my career as a development professional in 2000.
| What led you to being a development professional? |
I had been working in the development office for the Lutheran High School Association for nearly six years when an administrative position became available. Our superintendent asked me if I would consider filling the position. After some discussion and prayerful consideration I accepted. I enjoy what I do and the people with whom I work. They are dedicated hardworking individuals who enjoy serving their Lord. Most of all, it is my privilege to serve another generation of God’s young people.
| How does your faith guide you in your work? |
My faith not only guides me in my work, it guides me in all that I do. It gives me strength in the face of adversity. It gives me hope because He lives I know that I will live. My faith keeps me grounded in who I am and to Whom I belong. I am a child of God. Having the opportunity to share and express my faith openly and daily at work is a privilege and a blessing.
| What has been the biggest challenge for you as a development professional? |
The biggest challenge I face is making time in a busy schedule to incorporate new ideas.
| What excites you about your position? |
I enjoy the variety of different tasks that are a part of my daily responsibilities. I receive a great deal of enjoyment when I am working with a team on a new idea or project and watching it come to life is very rewarding.
| What is a favorite book you have read recently and why? |
Max Lucado is one of my favorite devotional authors. Recently I finished It’s NOT About Me. Lucado’s stories are inspirational and thought provoking. I am reminded of my purpose—to serve God and others.
| What three things do you like to do besides working? |
Outside of the office spending time with family and friends is a top priority. I am an avid reader, enjoy playing volleyball, and following the Brewers and Packers. The summer of 2006 I am also learned to play golf.
| What is the most essential quality of a good development professional? |
Integrity is the most essential quality of a good development professional. Donors require a high level of trust. Strong, positive, and honest relationships between donors and the organization are the key to a thriving fund raising program.
| Who has been a mentor for you and why? |
I have had the privilege to have a mentor that has coached and advised me during the past several years. I admire his faith and trust in God which is evidenced in all areas of his life. Watching him share his faith through his ministry has shown me how to better express my faith in my ministry. He is an encourager, a teacher, a good listener, and helps me see the forest for the trees. While I was attending classes at Concordia Univeristy at Wisconsin, there were times when I needed to discuss a topic to gain a different perspective or to have a better understanding, he would make time to listen and help me. I am thankful for his prayers, support, advice, and willingness to be a mentor for me.

| How many years have you been a member of ALDE? |
I have been a member of ALDE since 2000.
| Describe an ALDE experience that has been particularly noteworthy, fun, uplifting, educational, etc. |
It is difficult to pick just one ALDE conference experience that was particularly noteworthy. Conferences are filled with uplifting worship experiences, great people, and terrific educational sessions. If I had to pick one, the 2005 conference in Denver stands out. Keynote speaker Gary Moore spoke on integrating faith and finances. He was dynamic and his message was truly thought provoking.
