Prayer Requests
Please pray for Alan Zacharias’ father and family. Alan’s father has suffered another stroke.

Please pray for David Hildebrant’s wife who broke her wrist and recently underwent surgery. Also pray for David’s father who is fighting cancer and his aging mother who needs David’s care in Chicago while he is providing care for his wife in New York.

Please keep Cliff Pederson in your prayers as he moves through the recovery process. Cliff had heart surgery just before Christmas. The doctors planned to do an angioplasty, but decided to do five bypasses instead.

Farewell and God Bless
Robin Cherwinka, staff member for Chapter Support and web management, has left ALDE to devote more time to her family. Among other things, she is the executor of her father-in-law’s estate, which has consumed most of her time this past year. She simply did not have time to work much for ALDE and as conference time approached, ALDE needed attention which she could not give. ALDE has increased hours for Lacy Fatajo, finance associate. ALDE wishes Robin all the best, and she will continue to be available for consultation on the web and other short-term projects.

Conference Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to help make the CSI: Baltimore conference a wonderful event for all who attend. Volunteers are needed to assist at the registration desk on Friday evening and Saturday, to serve as Ushers during the Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday worship services, and to serve as Room Assistants during the breakout sessions.

The Room Assistant is a vital partner of the Room Host and each Presenter. The Room Assistant should arrive at the session at least 15 minutes early. The Room Assistant welcomes participants at the door and helps get people seated in a timely fashion so that the session can begin on time. He/she also distributes handouts, helps seat latecomers, takes an attendance count, and collects evaluation forms at the end of the session. It is best to serve as a Room Assistant for a session you are already planning to attend.

Serving as a volunteer during the conference is a great way to meet other conference participants and ALDE leadership. Please consider how you can help ensure the success of the conference.

To volunteer, send an email to Lois Natarajan, Volunteer Chair, at lnatarajan@baltimorelutheran.org with your name, contact information, and the volunteer position(s) you are interested in. Lois will send you a list of the open time slots and you can choose which opening(s) work best with your schedule.

Hotel
To assure the special ALDE room rates, hotel room reservations must be made by Tuesday, Jan. 16. Call 1-888-421-1442 or follow the link, HOTEL RESERVATIONS.

Conference Registrants List
The list of conference registrants, as of January 5, is posted at http://www.alde.org/Education/Conference/ListofRegistrants/tabid/85/Default.aspx . Just a reminder: you must log in, using the same username and password you established when first registering, in order to see that page. If you do not see your name listed and you believe you should be, please contact staff@alde.org so that staff may track down your registration. If you do not see others’ names whom you believe should be encouraged to attend the conference, feel free to contact them using the Forward to a Friend link or by contacting them directly. There’s always room for more in Baltimore!

Review Your Registration
Two significant glitches were recently corrected on the conference registration form. Please review your registration for accuracy. This is especially import for any special events you might have chosen (i.e. newcomer’s orientation, choir, servant event, etc.).

Master Classes
You can register for both classes. Some members have experienced trouble trying to register for both Master Classes. This has now been corrected. Please go to www.alde.org , login in to the web site, and then return to conference registration to sign-up for a second class.

Creativity Award
You are encouraged to bring to the conference your most successful and creative project, technique, or program to share with other ALDE members. Click here for more detail.

Several entries may be recognized, and one entry will be selected to receive ALDE’s Creativity Award, which recognizes excellence in work performed or closely guided/directed by an ALDE member. The award includes a $500 cash prize. The winning entry will be announced during the conference.

To participate, please notify Phyllis at phyllisw@alde.org by Feb. 2, 2007 of your intent to enter the show so that adequate space can be planned for your entry. Bring samples of the work to the conference to display. The Exchange of Ideas Show is an opportunity for ALDE members to learn and benefit from your ideas. You may wish to place items on a board or in a binder with the description added. A copy of your entry information will also be placed near your entry.

Conference Ingathering
Christ Lutheran Place, an emergency shelter for women and children, is in need of undergarments and socks for women and young children. As part of the conference service opportunity, you are invited to bring new packages of underwear and socks to donate to the shelter. Bring your items to the conference registration area. Volunteers will deliver the gifts to the shelter on Sunday evening.

New Pages on ALDE’s Web Site
“News of Note” and “Idea Exchange” are two new pages added to ALDE’s web site. You can find these pages under the “Resources” link. Feel free to submit items for either of those pages. Leadership, especially from Professionalism and Education Teams, continue to find news and ideas that are shared there. You may read about them first in an ALDE-Gram, but if you want to retrieve something from a previous issue or two, the best place to start searching is either “News of Note” or “Idea Exchange.”

 Volunteer with ALDE
The Leadership Team is working diligently on determining the number of vacancies on teams, task forces, committees, and the Board of Directors. In March, it will begin to match people with positions. So now is the time for you to indicate your interest, abilities, and willingness to serve ALDE. Click http://www.alde.org/Giving/Volunteer/tabid/121/Default.aspx to learn more and either download the form to fax in or submit your information online.

Service begins July 1, 2007, for most teams, task forces, and committees. Board of Directors’ nominations are presented at the 2008 Annual Meeting and service begins July 1, 2008.
