Building an Ambassador Program to Expand Your Social Media Footprint
Mitzie Schafer, CFRE

Date: Thursday, August 10, 2023

Time: 12:30 p.m. CT

Social media platforms can be an excellent tool to raise awareness about your organization with potential clients, employees, or donors. But with so many messages fighting for attention in our newsfeeds, how can you create traction with your posts – especially if you have a limited or nonexistent digital media budget? Establishing a team of social media ambassadors could be the right solution to help your organization build its social media footprint and reach a bigger audience. Note that this webinar expands on the highly-rated "Telling Your Story of Impact" Master Class from the Faith & Fundraising: Myrtle Beach 2023 conference, but also stands alone if you could not attend.

You will learn:
• The difference between an influencer and an ambassador
• How to identify and approach potential partners
• Levels of formality and setting expectations of ambassadors
• Balancing quality vs. quantity of social media content

Remember that webinars are FREE to ALL ACF members, and we just need you to RSVP. Webinars are $75 for nonmembers. Not a member? Attend your first webinar free to experience ACF! RSVP for free, or pay to attend, here.

She has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit executive leadership and fundraising for nonprofit organizations, including Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia, South Carolina; the ELCA Foundation; and NovusWay.

One of her specialties is helping nonprofit organizations implement systematic, best-practice approaches that shift toxic institutional cultures to healthy, thriving ministries. The focus is on relationship deposits, transparency, human resource management, communication, and accountability. She utilizes these strategies to strengthen relationships among staff, the board, and constituents.

She also specializes in growing passion, engagement, and giving to nonprofits. In her first three years at Epworth, she implemented a system she designed and titled “Anchor Storytelling.” The annual fund grew from $1.4 million to $2.6 million. At NovusWay, using the same system, she grew giving 68 percent over 12 months ($1,078,000 to $1,809,000). In her last two years at the ELCA Foundation, she helped congregation members take the necessary steps to create charitable estate plans that will gift more than $24 million to churches, church-related nonprofits, and other charities.

She served a term on the South Carolina Synod Council and on the South Carolina Bishop’s Mutual Ministry Committee for 10 years. She currently serves on the Board of the United Methodist Camp & Retreat Ministries Association. Mitzie is an avid quilter, writer, and artist living in Prosperity, South Carolina, with her husband, Pastor Jason, and two children, Ella and Micah.
