Get in the Christmas (and fundraising!) spirit with the ALDE Northstar Chapter at Norway House in Minneapolis. Our curriculum includes a panel on strategies to IGNITE your next campaign, a dynamic presentation on Donor Advised Funds by Dana Holt, and an opportunity to hear about the mission and work of Norway House by Executive Director Christina Carleton. The event includes lunch and an optional tour of the Gingerbread Wonderland exhibit.

Christina Carleton (top) is the Executive Director for Norway House. Born in Oslo Norway, Christina came to Minnesota in 2003. She studied at the University of Minnesota, and later earned her master’s at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her passion in life is being with her family (two boys, Sebastian and Henrik, and husband Steven), active with outdoor sports, cooking, and seeing Norway House succeed and flourish! In that order.

Dana J. Holt, RICP, AEP (bottom), is the founder of HOLT Consulting, where she guides charities, families, and financial advisers through complex charitable giving strategies. She also trains development staff to better identify and facilitate major and planned gifts.

Dana spent four years as an Advanced Planning Consultant at a Fortune 500 financial services company. There she guided and educated financial advisers through complex client matters. Dana honed her charitable planning experience during her nine years as a Charitable Gift Planner at InFaith Community Foundation. She began her professional career as an estate planning attorney in the Twin Cities. She graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and Southern Illinois University. She lives in Lauderdale, Minnesota, with her two retired racing greyhounds.

Everywhere you turn, people are talking about Donor Advised Funds. They’ve been popular for several years, but lately they’re really hitting their stride. The recent tax law changes have raised a renewed interest in these powerful creatures due to “bunching.”
